What to Bring and Not to Bring to a Protest:

DRESS FOR THE WEATHER
Conditions can change quickly so be prepared and carry hand/feet warmers if you have them. Make sure you don’t have any exposed skin that could risk frostbite.

PACK LIGHT
Make it easy on yourself, and leave large bags at home.
Bring a fully-charged phone (with biometrics turned off).
Bring your I.D. and one credit/debit card. Keep it in a secure pocket.
Bring a water bottle and/or light snack. There will be no food service at most events.

BRING A SIGN
Make your own sign! Do not put your signs on a stick for safety concerns. Sticks and poles are not allowed at venues.

Do Not Bring Chalk, Spray Paint, or Stickers: please don’t bring chalk or any other writing or marking material to write on the sidewalk or other surface along the march route. Volunteers are responsible for removing all markings at the end of the event, and washing away markings is a hard task that is easily avoided.

Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should NOT be brought to events.

Behavior and Safety at a Protest:

  1. Do not interfere with car or pedestrian traffic
  2. Please do not occupy medians
  3. Do not cross the street against the light
  4. Use the crosswalks to cross the street
  5. Do NOT engage with MAGA. Do not yell, argue, return obscene gestures, or otherwise interact. Do not approach vehicles.
  6. In the unlikely event of counter-protestors, do not engage directly. Walk away if necessary. If you feel threatened, call 911, retreat to a safe place (i.e., inside a local business) if you are able, and record if you are able.
